Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 February 2026

Summary

Your data is yours. I can't see it, I don't want it, and I'm not interested in monetising it. Of The Year is built to respect your privacy completely.

My Commitment

Of The Year is designed with your privacy as the top priority. I believe your personal data should stay personal. This policy explains how I handle (or rather, don't handle) your information.

Data Collection

I collect zero personal data.

Of The Year doesn't collect, store, or transmit any of your personal information to my servers. All your data stays on your devices.

  • No analytics tracking
  • No advertising identifiers
  • No user accounts or authentication
  • No behavioural tracking
  • No third-party data sharing

Data Storage

All data you create in Of The Year is stored locally on your device using SwiftData (Apple's data persistence framework). If you enable iCloud sync:

  • Your data is synced across your devices using Apple's CloudKit service
  • This sync is end-to-end encrypted by Apple
  • I cannot access your iCloud data
  • You can disable iCloud sync at any time in iOS Settings → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud

Export and import features allow you to backup your data as JSON files, which you control entirely.

App Permissions

Of The Year only requests the minimum permissions necessary for core functionality:

  • iCloud (optional): To sync your data across your devices

That's it. No location access, no photo library access, no contacts, no calendar—nothing beyond what's essential.

Third-Party Services

Of The Year uses Apple's native frameworks and services, which are governed by Apple's privacy policy:

  • CloudKit: For optional iCloud sync (Apple's privacy policy applies)
  • StoreKit: For optional tip jar purchases (handled entirely by Apple)

I don't integrate any other third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Children's Privacy

Of The Year doesn't collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is suitable for all ages.

Your Rights

Since I don't collect your data, there's nothing for me to delete, modify, or export on my end. You have complete control:

  • Delete the app to remove all local data
  • Disable iCloud sync to stop syncing (Settings → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud)
  • Export your data at any time from within the app
  • Delete specific items or categories within the app

Changes to This Policy

I may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
